A metro man is heartbroken after someone broke into his home and stole the ashes of his late wife. He's hoping the burglar will realize they have, and return them.
Don Wearmouth said if he had to put a dollar figure on what was stolen out of his home, it would total about $50,000.
But for Wearmouth, this is much more than material loss, or monetary value.
Don Wearmouth left his home in Hefner Village around 11:30 a.m. for men's bible study, only about five miles away. When he returned about an hour and half later, he saw his door had been kicked open and the upstairs bedroom closet ransacked.
Wedding and class rings were stolen. Several guns were taken.
But, it was his wife's ashes left in a now-empty black bag that took Don by surprise. He didn't even notice they were missing, until he started to clean up the mess.
His wife Karin was his best friend and companion and still was even after death.
It's only been a year since Don's wife died. He's lived in his home for eight years now and has never had any issues, until Tuesday.
