A judge sentenced former Putnam City High School Teacher Lisa Kays to four years in prison.

Prosecutors charged her with three counts of second degree rape and two counts of forcible oral sodomy in 2012 after she was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student. Prosecutors say Kays had sex with the student on five occasions – twice in her classroom.

Kays pled guilty and asked the judge to consider probation. Instead, Judge Ray Elliott, who is a former high school teacher called her action "disgusting."

In a tearful plea, Kays said," I've learned my lesson and I never intended to hurt anyone." Prosecutors argued, Kays knew what she did wrong at first encounter but continued to have a sexual relationship.

"The first time it happened and then it happened again, and again, and again and she never changed her behavior," Oklahoma County Assistant District Attorney Suzanne Lavenue said .

Kays' defense attorney Billy Bock said his client had hoped for probation but understands the punishment.

"She knows she made a mistake, she is remorseful, and will obviously pay a pretty good price for it," Bock said.
