Rollover Crash Results In Life-Threatening Injuries; 1 Man Revived At Scene

A single-car rollover crash near downtown Tulsa sent two men to the hospital with life-threatening injuries early Saturday, police said.

The Honda was traveling east on Second Street near Lansing Avenue at a high rate of speed about 1:20 a.m. He failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, struck railroad tracks and rolled, according to Tulsa police.

One man was ejected. The other man was trapped inside the car.

TPD Cpl. Dan Miller said it appears as though alcohol may have played a part in the crash.

"It does look like there could be alcohol involved in this," he said. "We found some alcohol in the vehicle... they're going to do blood tests to see if that was part of one of the reasons that helped cause this accident."

According to police, the car was equipped with a roll cage, which is designed to protect occupants in a rollover.

Neither man was wearing a seatbelt, Miller said.

"We were fortunate there was a nurse and a doctor here," Miller said. "The nurse took care of the one person out in the street. Initially, he didn't have a pulse. She was able to do some CPR and get him going."

Miller described the condition in which the men were found as "touch-and-go." He said the man who was trapped in the car had what seemed to be severe internal injuries and the doctor on scene was able to keep him alive.

"They really don't know... they're bad," he said. "It's real bad."

There was no update on their condition by midmorning Saturday.
