Police have taken one man into custody after a brief standoff in the 4200 block of Redmond in Bethany.

The standoff began just before 2 p.m. Thursday. A homeowner told News 9 his wife's adult son, who has a history of drug problems, broke in through the back door of the house while the woman was home alone. The woman escaped through the front door and called police.

Officers from the Bethany Police Department, as well as campus police from nearby Southern Nazarene University, responded to the scene and surrounded the house. They negotiated with the suspect for several minutes before going inside the home.

Just before 2:30 p.m., police took the suspect into custody and dragged him, handcuffed and half-dressed, out of the house. No one was hurt.

The suspect's name has not been released.
