Becky Bryan maintains her innocence and plans to appeal. Until then, she is sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of her husband late Nichols Hills Fire Chief Keith Bryan.

Bryan's close friend, and now Nichols Hills Fire Chief Terry Hamilton, said he's happy it's over but it did not give closure to his grief.

"I didn't feel relief and it was nothing to be happy about. Just feel kind of numb," Hamilton said.

The courtroom was packed with family and friends, all but the couple's two sons. Prosecutors read a victim impact statement written by the Bryan's youngest son Trent.

In the letter, he asked for everyone to remember his father Keith Bryan for the person he was and not the details of his death. He also wanted the court to know he had been torn in the case, because both the offender and victim are his parents.

Defense Attorney Gary James asked the judge to consider suspending a part of her sentence, arguing the case lacked evidence. James said the jury convicted an innocent woman based on character mistakes she made in the couple's marriage.

Becky Bryan waived her right to speak during the hearing. James said it's to protect her in the hopes of an appeal.

Judge Gary Miller upheld the jury's recommendation in sentencing Becky Bryan to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

"Today's sentence honors his memory," Canadian County District Attorney Mike Fields said.

Fields calls it justice for Keith Bryan and his family who suffered the tragic loss in September 2011. Keith Bryan was shot to death inside his Mustang home. Becky Bryan told investigators an intruder killed her husband.

Keith Bryan's loved ones vow his legacy will live on long after Tuesday's court hearing.
