Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigators have identified the boater involved in a hit-and-run collision that left two children injured and an Oklahoma City man dead.

News 9 has learned that the driver of the ski boat that hit another vessel on Lake Eufaula July 4 is expected to turn himself in on Monday in McIntosh County.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says crews have recovered the body of 55-year-old Gary McIninch about a mile east of Eufaula Cove in 17 feet of water Saturday night.

McIninch went overboard on July 4 after a ski boat smashed into their boat. Ten other people, including several children were on board.

McIninch's granddaughter is still recovering from her injuries.

"Whenever dad heard the boat coming he just tossed, pushed my girls back as far as he could and whenever the boat came up, it ended up taking out my dad and lost him in the water and they said that the boat guy came back around asking if anybody was okay or hurt or anything like that. And then once he heard the police was going to be called, he took off," said Tonia Foster, McIninch's daughter.

Now his family is determined to find out who is responsible.

"There is a twenty-foot ski boat that was on Eufaula. The description is that the dark color and a light color. It was ten o'clock at night and it ran over two boats and it needs to be found so we can come find out why this happened," Foster said.

Family members say McIninch saved the lives of his two granddaughters by protecting them in the collision. One of the children suffered a broken leg and is still in the hospital.
