The Nashville Sounds hit a pair of home runs and received a strong starting pitching performance from rehabbing Hiram Burgos to beat the Oklahoma City RedHawks 5-2 Thursday night.

The Sounds (28-52) struck first in the bottom of the second inning. Khris Davis sent a solo homer to right-center field for his ninth home run of the season to make it 1-0.

It stayed a one-run game until the Sounds muscled up again in the fifth. Josh Prince bashed a two-run shot off the light pole in left field to extend Nashville's lead to 3-0.

Nashville kept it going in the sixth. After RedHawks starting pitcher Asher Wojciechowski exited with two outs in the inning, Sounds shortstop Blake Davis hit an RBI triple off Eric Berger give Nashville a 4-0 advantage.

The Sounds collected their sixth and final extra-base hit with a two-out RBI double by Khris Davis in the seventh inning to stretch the lead to 5-0.

For most of the night, the RedHawks (41-38) were tied up by the Sounds pitching staff. Burgos, who began the season with Nashville but has spent most of the season with the Milwaukee Brewers before sustaining a shoulder injury, kept the RedHawks scoreless over five innings. He allowed three hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Burgos (1-2) wasn't completely invincible as the RedHawks a decent amount of runners on base, but Burgos was the benefactor of three double plays. The RedHawks would hit into a season-high four double plays for the game.

Oklahoma City would get on the board in the eighth. After a Carlos Perez RBI single, the RedHawks had runners at first and second base with none out, but Jose Martinez hit into his second double play of the night to thwart the rally.

Jimmy Paredes connected on his fifth home run of the season in the ninth—an opposite field shot that hugged the left field line and stayed fair by a couple feet.

Although the RedHawks and Sounds finished with nine hits apiece, the Sounds tallied four more extra-base hits than Oklahoma City.

For the first time in six starts, Wojciechowski (3-4) allowed more than three runs in game, and picked up a second-straight loss. He was charged with four runs and five hits over 5.2 innings. The right-hander struck out five and tied a season high with four walks.

Thursday also marked the highly anticipated Triple-A debut of outfielder George Springer. In his first game with the RedHawks, Springer went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

The RedHawks will play their third doubleheader of the week when they meet the Sounds for a pair of seven-inning games Friday night at 6:05 p.m.
