The Department of Defense announced Tuesday that a soldier from Panama, Oklahoma, was killed in Tsamkani, Afghanistan, by a suicide bomber.

The Department of Defense announced Tuesday that a soldier from Panama, Oklahoma, was killed in Tsamkani, Afghanistan, by a suicide bomber.

Spc. Robert A. Pierce, 20, was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Pierce and 23-year-old 2nd Lt. Justin Sisson from Phoenix suffered fatal wounds on June 3 when their unit was attacked "by a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device."
