Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Severe storms are expected to develop in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles after 4 p.m. and march eastward into western Oklahoma.

Initially storms will be capable of large hail up to baseballs, damaging winds in excess of 70 mph, and a few tornadoes. The tornado threat will be highest in western Oklahoma, although the overall tornado threat for today is on the low end.

As the evening rolls on, and storms move toward central Oklahoma, they will form into a larger complex and should weaken in intensity. The main threats will turn more toward hail, wind, and possibly flash flooding.

Storm timing for central Oklahoma will be well after dark, and flash flooding could once again impact the morning commute in Oklahoma City.
