Oklahoma Pitcher Gray Tests Positive For Adderall

NORMAN, Oklahoma -

Oklahoma pitcher Jonathan Gray tested positive for the medication Adderall during the MLB predraft drug testing program.

ESPN.com's Keith Law first reported the failed drug test, citing multiple sources close to the situation.

Adderall is listed on the NCAA banned list as an amphetamine in the stimulant drug class. However, since the drug test was not conducted by the NCAA, it is unclear whether or not the NCAA can administer any sort of punishment. Oklahoma said Monday in a statement that Gray's eligibility is not in question at this time.

Exemptions can be made for the use of Adderall but Law's sources said it didn't appear Gray had a prescription for the medication.

The use of the medication without an exemption is banned by MLB, but Gray won't face a suspension because of this drug test. There will be more testing in the future, and it could affect how negotiations go with teams looking to draft him.

Gray is expected by many to be a top-three draft pick this year.
