OKLAHOMA CITY -

The Central Oklahoma Humane Society have helped 83 animals reunite with their families, since severe storms and devastating tornadoes struck Oklahoma during the last two weeks.

According to the Humane Society, volunteers took in about 140 displaced animals after a massive EF-5 tornado tore across the Moore area on May 21.

And again, on Friday May 31, multiple tornadoes touched down in the Oklahoma City metro area. The severe storms also brought heavy rain and caused a flooding problem in central Oklahoma.

Since last Friday, the Humane Society took in 15 additional animals.

So far, volunteers say 83 of the animals have been claimed by their owners.

The animals that haven't been claimed will be kept at the Humane Society for 45 days. If they are still not claimed after 45 days, they will be up for adoption.

According to the Humane Society, many residents and businesses are sending their support to help volunteers with displaced animals.

Purina, Purina ONE, Tidy Cats and Purina Vet Diet sent dog food, kitty litter and FortiFlora to help the displaced animals. Petmate Pet Products donated a number of pet carriers. Dog toy company "Kong" sent pet toys to the Humane Society facility.
