Max White hit a go-ahead triple in the top of the 12th inning and OU outlasted Connecticut, 5-3 in a wild, extra-inning affair in the Blacksburg, Va. Regional.

With the win, the Sooners moved one win away from advancing to the Super Regionals. Oklahoma will face the winner of Connecticut and Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. CST.

The Sooners had an opportunity to win the game in the 11th inning, loading the bases with just one out. However, Garrett Carey grounded into an inning-ending double play to end the threat.

In the 12th, Craig Aikin led off with a single and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch, bringing up White, who blasted a 1-2 pitch just over the outstretched glove of UConn centerfielder Billy Ferriter to plate Aikin. After an intentional walk to Matt Oberste, Hector Lorenzana grounded to second in what appeared to be an inning-ending double play. However, second baseman LJ Mazzilli missed the tag on Oberste on the base path, and then threw low to first baseman John Melley, allowing White to score from third.

The Huskies put runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the 12th, but Melley ripped a liner to third base, right at Carey, who threw to second to double up Mazzilli and end the game.

The Sooners scored three runs in the top of the first inning, all with two outs. Lorenzana knocked an RBI single through the right side to score Jack Mayfield and advanced to second when the throw went in to third base. Anthony Hermelyn followed with another single through the right side to score Oberste and Lorenzana.

The Huskies got a run back against OU starter Dillon Overton in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly.

In the sixth inning, UConn struck for another run to draw within 3-2. Tom Verdi singled to start the inning and then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and a fly out. Verdi then came home to score on a single from Vinny Siena. Overton allowed another single and a walk to load the bases before giving way to Ralph Garza Jr. who coaxed Jon Testani to pop out to Hermelyn in foul territory to end the threat.

The Huskies finally tied the game in the eighth on an RBI ground out from Melley that scored Ferriter. Ferriter reached when Mayfield made a terrific play in the hole at short, but threw wildly to first, allowing Ferriter to advance to second.
