TCU scored six runs in the ninth inning to knock off 12th-ranked Oklahoma State, 8-4, on the opening day of the Big 12 Baseball Championship Thursday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

OSU scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the second inning and maintained a lead until the final frame, but relievers Vince Wheeland and Brendan McCurry were unable to close out the Horned Frogs as the Cowboys fell to 39-15 on the season.

The Cowboys have now lost five-straight games at the Big 12 Championship, with their last win coming in the opening game of the 2011 tourney.

Morrison entered the game as the Big 12 leader with a 1.22 ERA, but the Cowboys rallied for four runs with two outs in the bottom of the second inning, marking the first time TCU's sophomore hurler has ever allowed more than three earned runs in a game.

In the inning, Donnie Walton brought home the first two runs with a single to left field, and Tanner Krietemeier followed with a two-RBI double into the gap in left-center field to give OSU a 4-0 advantage.

TCU (29-26) tallied its only run off Cowboy starter Jason Hursh in the third, taking advantage of an error to plate an unearned run on a sacrifice fly by Derek Odell.

The Frogs trimmed their lead in half with another run in the sixth to make it 4-2.

OSU's bats fell silent after knocking Morrison from the game in the fourth inning as Trevor Seidenberger came out of the bullpen and stifled the Cowboy hitters. The southpaw allowed just one hit and struck out nine over the final 5.1 innings to earn his third win of the season.

In the pivotal ninth, Wheeland got leadoff hitter Cody Jones to fly out, marking the eighth-straight TCU batter he had retired. But the right-hander then surrendered back-to-back singles and a walk to load the bases and bring Brendan McCurry to the mound.

But OSU's closer could not hold the lead. On the first pitch he threw, Odell delivered a two-RBI single to shallow center field to tie the score at 4-4. After a wild pitch and an intentional walk again loaded the bases, McCurry hit Keaton Jones with a pitch to bring home the go-ahead run.

The Frogs weren't done as a two-RBI single by Brett Johnson made it 7-4 before a run-scoring single by Cody Jones brought home the eighth run.

In the bottom of the ninth, Seidenberger struck out the side to seal the win for TCU.

OSU will return to tourney action Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Kansas.
