At a preliminary hearing Thursday, attorneys for two brothers accused of shooting four women to death in January 2013 asked the judge to recuse himself.

Cedric Poore, 39, and his brother, James Poore, 32, are each charged with four counts of first-degree murder.

The quadruple homicide occurred in the Fairmont Terrace apartments on January 7, 2013. Police arrested the Poore brothers a month later.

During their preliminary hearing Thursday morning, their attorneys asked Judge Stephen Clark to step aside. The judge denied the request so the attorneys appealed. Tulsa County Presiding Judge William Kellough denied the appeal Thursday afternoon.

That means the preliminary hearing will resume Friday morning.

Tulsa Police say Rebeika Powell, 23; Kayetie Powell-Melchor, 23; Misty Nunley, 33; and Julie Jackson, 55, were shot to death during a robbery at an apartment in the 5800 block of South Owasso.
