OU Softball No. 1 Seed, Golden Hurricane Heads To Nebraska

The Oklahoma Sooners were named the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA tournament, while Tulsa was sent to the Lincoln, Nebraska regional.

The NCAA announced the 2013 NCAA softball tournament bracket and the Oklahoma Sooners and Tulsa Golden Hurricane made the field.

The Sooners, the No. 1 team in the country for the better part of the last two months, was named the overall No. 1 seed for the tournament and will host a regional beginning Friday in Norman. Fordham, Arkansas and Marist will join the Sooners in Norman.

The Sooners will face Marist in the first round of the tournament Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Fordham and Arkansas will play at 5 p.m.

Oklahoma rolled through the 2013 season, compiling a 47-4 record and won its 10th Big 12 conference title with a 15-2 conference mark.

Big 12 schools Texas and Baylor also made the field, with Texas as the No. 4 overall seed. Baylor will be in the College Station, Texas regional opposite No. 16 overall seed and former conference member Texas A&M.

The winner of the Norman regional will face the winner of the College Station regional in the Super Regionals.

The Golden Hurricane was placed in the Lincoln, Neb. regional and will face Stanford in the first round. Host Nebraska and Northern Iowa make up the rest of the regional.

Tulsa finished the season 42-14, good for third in Conference USA this season.

Conference USA members Houston, Marshall and UAB join the Golden Hurricane in the field of 64.
