The Oklahoma City RedHawks took their straight game in a four-game series from the Tacoma Rainiers Thursday night, downing the Rainiers, 3-1.

Asher Wojciechowski pitched six shutout innings for the RedHawks in picking up the win, limiting Tacoma to five hits. Wojciechowski also gave up three walks and struck out three. Blake Beavan took the loss for the Rainiers, giving up all three OKC runs on five hits.

Jose Valdez worked the ninth for his eighth save of the season, giving up a single run, but avoiding further damage.

Oklahoma City got things started in the bottom of the second when Brandon Laird reached on a fielding error by shortstop Carlos Triunfel. After stealing second, Laird came around to score on a single from Andrew Simunic.

It was a pitching duel for most of the game, although Tacoma had plenty of opportunities to score, batting 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

In the bottom of the sixth, the RedHawks tacked on two more runs, both coming with two outs. Jake Elmore singled and then scored on a double from Brett Wallace. Wallace then came around during the next at-bat when Laird singled to left.

The RedHawks go for the sweep of Tacoma Friday night.
