Large flames and heavy smoke poured from a downtown Tuttle building early Tuesday morning, destroying a structure that housed several businesses.

Firefighters were called around 5:15 a.m. to the building at S.E. 2nd Street. The fully-involved fire consumed the second floor. Fire crews from Oklahoma City, Newcastle, Bridge Creek and Amber helped Tuttle firefighters.

Crews were forced to take a defensive stance against the fire, meaning they had to fight it from outside the building. It took crews several hours to get the fire under control.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says State Highway 92 is shut down at State Highway 37.

because of the fire.No one was hurt in the fire. Firefighters don't yet know how the fire started, but they believe it began on the second floor. The building houses at least 10 businesses, including a barber, law firm, nutrition center and investment company.
