Tulsa Couple Arrested After Toddler Found With Major Brain Injury

A Tulsa mother was booked into jail Wednesday afternoon on accusations of child neglect and that she allowed someone to abuse her 18-month-old daughter.

Scott Bolden, 24, the mother's boyfriend, faces two counts of child abuse.

Police records show the couple called for help Tuesday evening, when the girl lost consciousness and they couldn't wake her up.

Doctors told police the girl had a significant brain injury and needed immediate surgery to reduce the swelling and pressure in her cranium. They say the girl also had several new and old bruises.

Records show the mother, 19-year-old Heidi Benjamin, says Bolden was taking care of the girl while she was in the shower, and realized something was wrong when she finished.

According to the arrest report, Benjamin admits she didn't call for help until the girl was unresponsive.

They are both being held on a $100,000 bond.
