Update Monday, April 29: ODOT informs News On 6 that the fuel and oil did not get into Bird Creek.

Northbound lanes of Highway 169 at Bird Creek Bridge were closed for about eight hours Saturday after a semi-tractor trailer wreck.

The driver lost control of the vehicle while lighting a cigarette, struck the bridge and jackknifed, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers told News On 6.

Remediation crews were called to the scene to clean up after the truck which was hauling two trailers.

Diesel fuel and engine oil  leaked over the road and may have contaminated the creek, according to authorities at the scene.

The wreck took place at about 6:15 a.m. near 56th Street North. The driver did not appear to be injured.
