Classen SAS Briefly Locked Down After Suspicious Backpack Discovered

Posted: Updated:

The Classen School of Advanced Studies was briefly placed on lockdown after a suspicious backpack was found, Wednesday afternoon.

The school, located at 1901 N. Ellison Ave., went on lockdown after a volunteer at a nearby non-profit saw the suspicious backpack and heard a ticking sound in a dumpster they share with the school. That person then called 911.

The school houses grades 6 - 12, and has approximately 650 students.

Police are investigating. Students are being released from class at their normal time, but are being asked to leave on the eastside of the building.

No other information has been released at this time.
