ODOT says they have plans to fix a drainage problem on the northbound lanes of Interstate 235 south, that's been a drainage problem for years.

Thousands of people use I-235 North to get home after Thunder home games.

Wednesday night during heavy rains, water rose as high as three or four feet in the far right lane of I-235 near NE 50th Street.

A handful of motorists' vehicles stalled, and two people had to be plucked by firefighters from the road.

Terri Angier of ODOT says that stretch of roadway was built in 1966. She says there are plans to replace it will a much better drainage system in the next two years and that ODOT is also looking at ways to manage the problem now, by clearing debris from the drains periodically.

"Last night the problem was it was so concentrated in such a quick amount of time," she said.

Angier says ODOT is also looking at ways to move the I-235 portion of the Broadway Extension project up as well.
