A powerful storm system moving through the southwestern United States will bring a threat of severe weather across Oklahoma on Tuesday.

A powerful storm system moving through the southwestern United States will bring a threat of severe weather across Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Supercells are expected to initiate along a dryline in western Oklahoma after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, It will move into central Oklahoma, including the OKC metro, after 4:00 p.m. The severe threat will continue into the evening hours.

As a cold front sweeps in, storms will form into a line and will eventually advance into eastern Oklahoma Wednesday morning.

Storms that develop will be capable of large hail up to the size of baseballs, damaging wind gusts in excess of 70+ mph, and possibly a few tornadoes.

As the cold front continues to advance into southern Oklahoma, frigid air will rush in behind it dropping temperatures into the low 30s Wednesday morning. This could result in a wintry mix for a brief period.

Several counties in western Oklahoma are now under a Winter Weather Advisory.
