Oklahoma Baptist had 25 hits but couldn't pull off a win against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, losing both ends of a Sooner Athletic Conference softball doubleheader 9-3 and 10-9 in eighth innings Wednesday.

OBU out-hit USAO 11-9 in the opener but left eight runners on base and had only two RBI – a two-run home run in the sixth by Dara Gray.

Noelle McDowell took the pitching loss, allowing five earned runs in 4.2 innings despite logging six strikeouts.

In the second game, USAO scored six in the first and had a 7-0 lead before OBU got on the scoreboard with a three-run home run by Erin McLeod in the third. Audrey Branscum drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 7-4 in the fourth, followed by a two-run single by Kenna Self to trim the gap to 7-6.

Two more Drovers scored in the bottom of the fourth, but OBU tied the game in the sixth on a two-run double by Amanda Harmon and an RBI single by Branscum.

The game went to extra innings where two OBU batters struck out with the go-ahead run aboard before USAO pulled off the win in the bottom of the eighth.

OBU had 13 hits in the game, including three by Harmon and Garrett and two each by Branscum, Self and LeNae Sanchez.

Hannah Wilbur was charged with the loss.

The two teams meet again in Shawnee Friday to close their regular season series, starting at noon.
