My 2 Cents: Nike Tiger Ad Controversy

Not even Tiger Woods believes the latest ad campaign he's featured in. Sure it's catchy, typical Nike fare, and as designed it's stirring up some controversy.

Not even Tiger Woods believes the latest ad campaign he's featured in. Sure it's catchy, typical Nike fare, and as designed it's stirring up some controversy.

With three victories this year, Woods has re-ascended to the position as the top golfer in the world. And the slogan says "Winning takes care of everything."

That implies that his personal and marital meltdown, and the absolute demolition of his public reputation in December 2009 is being wiped away by 12 rounds of golf he's played; That if you are a winner, one of the best at what you do, you can get away with being as big a lech as you want to be.

Moms and Dads, we'll pull all of our hair out if we try to expose all of the Madison Ave. misinformation shoveled at our kids, but this one's so easy to debunk it's laughable.

Just tell the kids that Tiger Woods WAS winning, he was number one for years, all the while he was lying to his wife and the public, creating an All American family man image and it all imploded around him, all his trophies covered with slime. Winning led to excess and excess to public humiliation.

I'm not a Tiger hater. We've all screwed up. I wish him the best and I hope he becomes who we thought he was. But this "Winning takes care of everything" slogan has about as much substance as "Just Do It."
