Oklahoma State earned its seventh-straight win Wednesday night as the 20th-ranked Cowboys defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State, 5-3, at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

The win gave OSU its second seven-game winning streak of the season as the Cowboys improved to 18-3 heading into Friday's Big 12 Conference series opener against Baylor, which is slated for a 3 p.m. start at Reynolds Stadium.

OSU scored early and then held on for the win over Southeastern, a Division II program from Durant, Okla., that is now 16-11 on the season.

The Cowboys racked up a season-high eight stolen bases, and they got things started in the first inning. Gage Green led off the frame with a walk and stole second, then third, before scoring on an RBI single by Tanner Krietemeier to give OSU a 1-0 lead.

OSU extended its lead in the third, and once again, it was Green getting things started with a leadoff walk and a stolen base, his third of the contest. This time, Green took third on a bunt single by Aaron Cornell before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Zach Fish.

The Cowboys would tally two more runs on RBI singles from Randy McCurry and Saulyer Saxon to take a 4-0 advantage after three innings.

Southeastern got on the scoreboard in the fourth, getting an RBI double from Chevis Springer for its first run, before cutting into the Cowboys' lead again in the fifth.

In that inning, three consecutive SEOSU singles off reliever Jon Perrin trimmed OSU's lead to 4-2, and an RBI groundout by Troy McCartney cut the Storm's deficit to just one.

But Vince Wheeland came out of the Cowboys' bullpen and struck out Nick Grimmett to escape further damage, and the OSU right-hander also struck out the side in the sixth. That performance helped the junior improve to 5-0 on the season.

OSU tallied an unearned insurance run in the eighth, and Brendan McCurry picked up his second save of the year with 1.2 scoreless innings.

The Cowboys finished with just four hits on the night, with Krietemeier extending his hitting streak to 14, the longest by an OSU player this season.
