A Tulsa homeowner scared off an intruder by firing his handgun at the man early Wednesday.

Police say an alarm went off in the home on North Yukon shortly after 1 a.m.

When the homeowner went to investigate, he found another man standing near a back bedroom. Police say the homeowner grabbed his handgun and fired one shot at the man.

"His alarm went off. He went to check his kids, saw someone inside his house. He retrieved his hand gun, confronted the individual, fired at least one shot. Bad guy was able to get out of the house and run away," Tulsa Police Cpl. Dan Miller.

The homeowner, his wife and two daughters were not injured.

Police say all they have on the intruder is that he was a black male wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and pants.

Police searched the neighborhood but didn't find anyone matching the description.
