Workers with the City of Oklahoma City have managed to contain an oil leak from a manual singer well in the parking lot of shopping center near Penn and Hefner, Friday.

The leak occurred at the Meadow Brook-owned well, located in the parking lot of the Buy For Less shopping center in The Village at around 3 p.m.

Workers put in place eight foot barricades to block the leak from making into the streets. An unknown amount of oil leaked from the well into a nearby creek.

Although the well has been capped, crews will remain on site for a couple of weeks to clean up the spill. Workers say that the spill will not affect the local drinking water.

The spill did not cause any nearby businesses to be evacuated.
