Manhunt On For Two Moore Bank Robbery Suspects

Two armed robbers are on the run following a five-hour manhunt.

Moore Police set up a search perimeter from SW 19th to Indians Hills Rd. and from Telephone Rd. to Santa Fe.

Moore Police Sergeant Jeremy Lewis said the suspects robbed the IBC Bank on SW 19th St. around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

After the two bank robbers bailed out of a stolen car in the Fairways Apartment complex, police say they ran in opposite directions with guns in hand. Police immediately put the apartments and a neighboring golf course, Moore Golf and Athletic Club on alert.

"All the helicopters were coming over and we saw police everywhere," said Willis Jones.

Jones was on the 16th hole when he was forced off the course. The golf course, the Fairways Apartments and The Greens became the center of the police search.

"I mean Ii wasn't worried or scared. Just gotta be safe with this stuff I guess," said golfer, Michael Lynn.

Lewis assured at least six agencies were doing an exhaustive search of the area.

"Unfortunately they fled. The apartment complex, it's multiple units so each one has to be gone through to make sure they are not in the area," said Lewis.

Southmoore High School and three elementary schools were put on lockdown while police did a door-to-door search of the apartments. Officers also checked every car at the apartment.

Officials called off the search after five hours, saying they believe the two suspects are responsible for at least four other bank robberies in the metro.
