OKLAHOMA CITY -

Unless heavy rains douse Central Oklahoma, boaters will not spend the summer floating across Lake Hefner.

The Oklahoma City Council decided Tuesday morning not to rent out boat slips at the popular lake. Council members made the decision because of the severe drought and low water level at Lake Hefner.

The council could reverse the decision if enough rain falls to raise the lake's water level.
