Despite a loss in the finals of the Great American Conference, the Southwestern Oklahoma State University women's basketball team was awarded a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament as the No. 7 seed in the Central Region. The Lady Bulldogs will face No. 2 seed Central Missouri on Friday (March 15) in Topeka, Kan.

SWOSU, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Kelsi Musick, is 23-6 this season and they have won 14 of their last 16 games. The Lady Bulldogs are the third-highest scoring team in NCAA Division II, averaging 80.4 points per game.

Central Missouri will enter the regional with a record of 24-4, which included a runner-up finish in the MIAA Conference Tournament.

Washburn earned the top seed and will host the regional. They will face No. 8 seed Emporia State on Friday. Other first round matchups are No. 3 seed Concordia-St. Paul vs. No. 6 seed Augustana and No. 4 seed Minnesota State-Mankato against No. 5 seed Arkansas Tech.

This will be the first appearance for the SWOSU women's basketball program in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Game times and ticket information will be released by Washburn later this week.
