Oklahoma State Baseball Gets Big Walk-Off Win

STILLWATER, Oklahoma -

Tanner Krietemeier's solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted 26th-ranked Oklahoma State to a 2-1 win over Loyola Marymount Friday night at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

For the Cowboys, Friday's thriller marked their second-straight walk-off win in extra innings as they improved to 11-2 on the season. OSU is also now 3-0 in extra-inning games and 9-1 on its home field.

In what was a pitchers' duel throughout, the Cowboys collected seven hits, none of them bigger than Krietemeier's blast in the 10th. The round tripper came on the first pitch the junior saw from Bret Dahlson as he deposited a fastball over the wall in left field.

Along with Krietemeier's heroics, OSU produced a pair of outstanding pitching performances to propel it to the win.

Starter Jason Hursh had a career game as the sophomore right-hander allowed just one run on two hits in eight innings and racked up a career-high seven strikeouts.

Despite the stellar outing, Hursh did not factor in the decision as Brendan McCurry did not allow a hit and hurled two scoreless innings to improve to 2-0 on the year.

LMU (5-9) was strong on the mound as well with starter Colin Welmon allowing just one run on five hits.

The Cowboys would take the game's first lead in the fourth on an unearned run. With two outs, a throwing error by LMU shortstop David Edwards allowed Zach Fish to reach first safely, and the hot-hitting Victor Romero made the Lions pay by delivering a double into the right-center field gap to make the score 1-0.

The one-run lead held until the eighth. Edwards led off the inning with a single, then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt before taking third on a wild pitch. He would plate the tying run on an RBI groundout by Brice Savage for the Lions' only score.

OSU nearly regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth, loading the bases with two outs before Robbie Rea struck out to end the threat.

The two teams return to action Saturday at 3 p.m
