OKLAHOMA CITY -

Nearly two dozen people were evacuated Thursday morning from a senior living center in northwest Oklahoma City when a fire broke out in the building.

The fire started just before 5:30 a.m. at the Towers Apartments on Northwest 9th near Robinson Avenue. Firefighters say a couch caught fire on the second floor.

The building's sprinkler system quickly put out the flames, but Oklahoma City fire crews stayed on the scene for about 90 minutes to make sure the danger was over and to clear smoke from the building.

No one was hurt and residents were allowed to return to their apartments. One resident told News 9 there is a lot of water and smoke damage in the building.

It's not known yet what started the fire.
