Police responded to a shooting reported at a home near W. Boyd St. and S. Flood Ave. in Norman, Wednesday evening.

Authorities say a man fired two shots at some people who stole a microphone the man was trying to sell on Craigslist.

The alleged thieves were supposedly interested in buying the microphone, but instead swiped it once they arrived at the home. That is when the homeowner fired his weapon. At this time, police do not believe anyone was hit.

The University of Oklahoma sent the following notification to students and faculty regarding the shooting:

"Shots fired at Boyd and Flood streets. Suspect vehicles are a black Dodge Durango and a black Nissan Altima. Last seen going south. Avoid the area until further notice. Please contact Norman Police with any information."

Police are still looking for any suspects involved. They have detained the homeowner. The Norman Police Department released the following statement, later Wednesday evening:

"Norman police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of South Flood Avenue and Boyd Street. Upon arrival, officers identified the location of the incident as 612 South Flood and made contact with the home owner. The resident told officers he had placed a microphone for sale on-line. A male arrived at the residence to possibly buy the microphone and asked the owner if he could take it to his car to show it to a girlfriend, and the owner agreed.

Apparently, the owner became suspicious of the possible buyer, retrieved a handgun, went outside, and noticed a vehicle--described as a black Dodge Durango pickup truck--beginning to drive away. At which point, the owner fired two shots.

Presently, police are not aware of any injuries associated with the alleged shooting, since the Dodge truck had fled the scene before their arrival. Police have detained the home owner for questioning, but have made no arrests at this point. Detectives are on the scene and will continue to investigate the matter."
