OKLAHOMA CITY -
The new place to
be this summer may be down by the river. The Sandridge Sky Trail, the
first of several new attractions, opens March 9.
The Sky Trail is
the tallest adventure course in the world: 80 feet tall. And it can no doubt be
intimidating at first. But as you get
more comfortable and confident in the harness that is always attached, you work
your way up and through the increasingly difficult course.
"This is the first
stage of the whole project, and from the top we are going to have a zip line
that goes across the river and back," said Mike Knopp, Executive Director of
the Oklahoma Boathouse Foundation.
Also off the top
of the Sky Trial, opening Memorial Day, will be a free fall into a landing pad
on one side and the tallest slide in America off the other.
For those who are
shorter to the ground, or just like to keep their feet on it, a nearby youth
zone offers a smaller version of the sky trail, a mini zip line and a huge
cloud bounce for any age.
"We're going to
have one of the premier outdoor adventure venues in the country when we're said
and done so this is just another big step in that process," said Knopp
It offers a chance to
step outside your comfort zone for a unique adreline rush typically not found
in Oklahoma.
Special opening pricing for SandRidge Sky Trail is $15
adults, $10 youth 4-12. Blue Cross Blue Shield Youth Zone is $10 ages 4+. Both
open March 9 and are part of RIVERSPORT Adventures, running Sat. 10 am. - 8 p.m. &
Sun 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Sky Slide & Base Jump coming Memorial day.
The zip line will be ready later this summer.
