OKLAHOMA CITY -

Students at a metro elementary school stood in the shape of a heart Friday afternoon, in hopes of raising awareness of kindness and treating others with respect.

At 1:30 p.m., 400 students and faculty members at Barnes Elementary School wore "Kindness/Nice Matters" t-shirts, and stood in the school parking lot in the shape of a heart.

Schools officials say this event symbolizes their commitment to be a bully-free school. They have been teaching the children that unkind words, deeds, and actions make lasting effects in other' lives.

An assembly on anti-bullying takes place at the school at 2:45 p.m. Friday.
