John Brown Rallies To Beat Lady Bison, 52-47

John Brown used a 23-0 run to overcome a 19-point second-half deficit and eliminate Oklahoma Baptist 52-47 Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Lady Bison led 35-20 at halftime, but shot 17 percent in the second half. OBU led 41-22 with 16:29 left in the game but missed its next 17 shots and turned the ball over four times while the Golden Eagles were going eight of 11 from the field, including three three-pointers, and four of four at the free throw line.

John Brown got its lead out to seven but OBU got four unanswered point by Zbeyda Aremi to make it a three-point game with 1:19 left. The Lady Bison couldn't pull the trigger from there and John Brown advanced.

Sierra Shipley led JBU with 12 points, with Lauren Rogers getting 11 and Brooke Barker 10.

Aremi and Janell Beacham had 12 for OBU, followed by Charity Fowler with 11. OBU ends its season at 14-14.

John Brown (13-16) plays in Friday's 3 p.m. semifinal contest.
