The latest NCAA regional rankings for the 2012-13 were released on season Wednesday (Feb. 27) and Southwestern Oklahoma State University remained ranked No. 8 in the Central Region.

SWOSU won their 20th game of the season on Saturday over Ouachita Baptist and the Lady Dawgs are now 20-5 (15-4 GAC) on the year and receiving votes in the latest Top 25 poll. The regional rankings take into consideration only games against NCAA Division II foes and SWOSU is 19-4 in those games. At the end of the season, the top eight teams will advance to the regional which is hosted by the No. 1 team.

Washburn is ranked first in the region, followed by Central Missouri, Concordia-St. Paul, Minnesota State Mankato and Truman. The top GAC team in the poll, Arkansas Tech, moved up one position this week to No. 6, followed by Augustana and SWOSU while Northeastern State and Pittsburg State round out the poll.

The Central Region is composed of teams from the Great American Conference along with the MIAA and NSIC. The GAC, now in its second year of existence, does not receive an automatic bid into the regional until next year.

SWOSU has just one game remaining in the regular season, a home contest against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday, before heading to the GAC Tournament in Bartlesville, Okla., on March 7-10.
