Flu-Related Death In Muskogee County Brings State Total To 26

OKLAHOMA CITY -

The latest numbers from the Oklahoma State Department of Health show one more flu death in state in the past week, bringing total for the flu season to 26.

The latest death was in Muskogee County.

The health department report released Thursday shows there have been 946 hospitalizations since the start of the flu season in September.

The season runs through May.

Tulsa County has had six deaths due to flu, while Oklahoma and Comanche counties have each had three. Washington and Pittsburg counties each have two flu-related deaths. Single deaths are reported in Blaine, Cleveland, Creek, Mayes, McIntosh, Nowata, Rogers and Stephens counties.

Tulsa County leads the state in flu-related hospitalizations (268) and flu-related deaths (6). Oklahoma County is second with 147 hospitalizations and three deaths.

Counties in eastern Oklahoma with hospitalizations since September 2012 include Adair (13), Cherokee (6), Creek (35), Delaware (1), Latimer (5), Mayes (4), McCurtain (3), McIntosh (9), Muskogee (29), Nowata (2), Okmulgee (11), Osage (12), Ottawa (1), Pawnee (3), Pittsburg (12), Rogers (24), Sequoyah (1), Wagoner (20) and Washington (13).
