Oklahoma City University powered past MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) 14-2 before falling 15-3 to Bellevue (Neb.) Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked No. 4 in NAIA baseball, outhit MidAmerica Nazarene 12-4 but made five errors against Bellevue to move to 10-3 on the season.
Cody Ferrell got the Stars on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run over the left-field fence to make the score 1-0.
MidAmerica Nazarene pushed a pair of runs across in the third and fourth innings to take a 2-1 lead.
OCU responded with a nine-run bottom of the fourth innings to take a 10-2 lead. Jonathan Sigado, Walker Davidson and Chris Muñoz all drew bases-loaded walks and Josh Dickey was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the Stars' first four runs in the inning.
Later in the inning, Brayden Brumley and Jonathan Rodriguez had back-to-back doubles to score four more runs and give OCU a 9-2 advantage. An RBI single from Chase Jensen capped the inning and gave the Stars a 10-2 lead.
Kale Gaden singled to left in the bottom of the fifth to stretch OCU's lead to 11-2.
In the bottom of the sixth, Forrest Smith doubled to left center and Sigado doubled to down the left-field line to make the score 14-2 in favor of the Stars. One batter later, Mason Toole singled to push the OCU lead to 14-2.
Sigado pitched a scoreless top of the seventh to give the Stars the 14-2 victory.
Cody Crabaugh tossed six innings and allowed two runs on four hits with five strikeouts to move to 2-1 on the season.
Brumley, Rodriguez and Sigado drove in two runs apiece to lead OCU at the dish.
After 17th-ranked Bellevue took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Rodriguez put the Stars on the scoreboard with an RBI double down the left-field line to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Bruins.
Bellevue put up four runs in the top of the second and five in the top of the third to push its lead to 12-2.
Rodriguez and Smith each drove in a run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Bruins' lead to 12-3.
Bellevue plated a pair of runs in the top sixth and got a scoreless bottom of the seventh to take the 15-3 victory.
Patrick Goelz and Will Patrigo each pitched 2.2 innings. Ricky Spain struck out three in 1.2 innings of relief.
Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with two RBIs to lead OCU at the plate.
