The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels fell 8-4 to the Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raiders in a matchup in Shawnee, Okla. on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University.

With the score even at 1-1 after an inning, the Red Raiders capitalized on two errors to plate three runs in the second. The big hit of the inning was a two-run single by Laura Hurley that plated Clarissa Ipema and Jill Kleinhesselink that made it 4-1.

The Lady Evangels (1-2) came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third as a single by Tiffany Holt scored Amber Tinney and Jackie Hilterbran to make it a one run game.

But the Red Raiders responded with four runs in the fourth inning to surge to a commanding five-run lead of 8-3. Kleinhesselink doubled, stole third and scored in the big inning for Northwestern.

Erica Love led off the sixth with a single and stole home for the Lady Evangels' fourth run of the game.

Kelcie Wolf pitched four hitless innings in relief of Tinney, who allowed five earned runs in her three innings of work.

Katie VandeVoort picked up the win for the Red Raiders (1-3) by lasting the full seven innings and giving up two earned runs and striking out four.
