KAY COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A Ponca City man was killed in a single-vehicle accident near Tonkawa in Kay County, Sunday morning.

It happened just after 10:30 a.m. on US highway 177.

According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Travell Carnes was traveling on US 177 in a 2004 Jeep, when an unknown distraction in the vehicle caused the vehicle to exit the roadway to the right.

The Jeep travelled approximately 400 feet, rolling four times and coming to rest on its wheels. Carnes was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle an unknown distance.

Carnes was transported via ambulance to Blackwell Hospital where he died from his injuries.
