"Oklahoman's are getting more fit," said Tim Brassfield, executive director and CEO of the Sooner State Games. That's one reason he says more people have turned out to compete in the 2013 Winter Sooner State Games.

The organization says they are experiencing record enrollment this year. So far, there has been a 38 percent increase, or nearly 750 participants over 2012.

The Games are an annual event and feature amateur athletes from around the state.

Brassfield says youth basketball is one of the most successful sports in the Games and is very competitive. This year, 1,500 athletes competed in the sport at the Games.

Archery, new addition CrossFit, trail run, and wrestling are other sports that also saw increased numbers. Billiards, disc golf, judo, martial arts, ping pong and shooting were other sports athletes competed in at this year's Games.

Two events remain and athletes are encouraged to enroll soon. Cross County will take place on Feb. 16 and Figure Skating will be held March 1 through 3. Participants can enroll at

The Games are open to all ages.
