Federal Grand Jury Indicts OKC Man For Internet Bomb Threat

Posted: Updated:

A federal grand jury has handed up an indictment against an Oklahoma City man accused of posting online a violent threat that led to lockdowns at dozens of schools in Wyoming.

The FBI says Glenn Allen Kirkham, 34, posted the threat on an internet-based bulletin board service. The threat prompted numerous calls to the police department in Casper, Wyoming. On January 14, police placed schools in Casper and Natrona County, Wyoming, on lockdown as a precaution.

FBI agents used the online threat to track Kirkham, and located him in Oklahoma City. He was arrested and booked into the Grady County jail.

In the post, Kirkham said he planned to use guns, knives, a bat, a hammer and even a wooden stake to launch an attack.

The post read in part:

I'm using my life to prove a point for you all, to show everyone that a very high score can be racked up using rather primitive weapons and even household objects. I will be victorious. I will make it clear that intricate planning and poor weapons will trump amateurs with AK's any day of the week.

Investigators say it appears Kirkham was angry over gun control efforts in the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

It's not known why the threat targeted towns in Wyoming.

Kirkham has been indicted for transmitting a threat by interstate communications. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison, and ordered to pay a $250,000 fine. He could also be forced to pay restitution for the cost of the police response to the threat.
