Oklahoma City University shot 298-292–590 and took a two-stroke lead after two rounds of the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Invitational at Shadowridge Golf Club.

The Stars, ranked No. 2 in NAIA men's golf, erased a four-stroke deficit after the first round on the 6,829-yard, par-72 course. OCU leads CSU-San Marcos by two strokes and The Masters (Calif.) by 15.

James Marchesani, a junior from Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, carded seven birdies and an eagle to lead the Stars. Marchesani posted 72-73–145 and sits in third place, one shot behind Adam Loran, of Cal State San Marcos, and 10 shots behind tournament leader Jake Knapp of UCLA.

Senior Sondre Ronold, of Stavenger, Norway, fired 74-74–148 to take a share of 10th place. Fellow senior Michael Palmer, of Johannesburg, South Africa, followed with 77-73–150 to grab a share of 14th place.

Freshman Anthony Marchesani, of Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, shot 75-76–151 and carded eight birdies through two rounds. Junior Monty Lack of Melbourne, Australia, carded 80-72–152 to snag a share of 21st place.

The Stars will return to action in the third and final round of the Cal State San Marcos Cougar Invitational Tuesday at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista, Calif.
