The Oklahoma State wrestling team won several close battles against No. 7 Missouri, emerging victorious, 21-13, in front of 6,486 fans at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo. on Friday.

Eight of the night's bouts were decided within two points.

"It was a tough match and a good win on the road," coach John Smith said. "There was a pretty electric crowd. We won some tight, close matches. We lost a couple that I think we could have won, but overall, it was a good effort."

The dual began at 184 pounds with No. 12 Chris Chionuma's 5-4 upset over No. 9 Mike Larson. At 197, Blake Rosholt, ranked 15th in the nation, followed with an upset of his own, defeating No. 10 Brent Haynes, 4-3.

The Cowboys' lone bonus point win came at 285 pounds, where Alan Gelogaev pinned MU's Devin Mellon in 4:15, giving the Cowboys a comfortable 12-0 lead.

The Tigers answered with three decisions in a row at 125, 133 and 141 pounds, bringing the team score to 12-9 in favor of the Cowboys.

Jordan Oliver picked up two takedowns to defeat No. 18 Drake Houdashelt, 4-2, and Alex Dieringer grabbed a 5-3 win over No. 20 Kyle Bradley, beating him for the third time this season.

At 165, Tyler Caldwell's match against Zach Toal went into a second sudden victory period, but Caldwell's takedown earned him a 3-1 win, sealing the victory for the Pokes with one match left.

A tough loss for the Cowboys came in the final match of the night, where top-ranked Chris Perry was handed his first loss of the season at 174 pounds.

"I think we'll see Chris Perry bounce back," Smith said. "He just never really recovered from that first takedown, and I think tonight is something that going to help him grow as a wrestler."

The Cowboys travel to Ames, Iowa on Sunday to take on Big 12 foe Iowa State at 2 p.m. at the Hilton Coliseum.
