OK Parole Board Members Reject Ultimatum

Five members of the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board will not resign, despite facing charges from the Oklahoma County District Attorney's office.

The District Attorney had offered board members a chance to resign their positions, or face criminal charges for what he calls violations of the state's Open Meeting Act. But board members are standing firm, saying they will not resign.

The members deny doing anything wrong, according to attorney Mack Martin.

Oklahoma City attorney Mack Martin, the attorney representing the board, tells News 9 none of the five board members are going to resign, and they are ready to see what District Attorney David Prater's next move will be.

Prater had given board members a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday to either agree to resign or face criminal misdemeanor charges.

Prater has refused to comment on the plea offer before stating "the rules of professional conduct prevent me from talking about ongoing plea agreements."
