Driver Dies After Crashing Into Semi In NW OKC

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is trying to determine why the driver of pickup truck slammed into the back of a semi early Tuesday morning on the Kilpatrick Turnpike at the Broadway Extension.

Just after 3 a.m., the pickup was traveling westbound on the turnpike when it crashed into the semi. The driver was killed instantly. The driver of the semi was not seriously hurt.

OHP shut down all westbound lanes of the turnpike while troopers investigated the crash and cleared away the wreckage. Troopers say they don't know yet what caused the accident.

The turnpike was closed for about three hours, but reopened before the morning rush hour began. The name of the man killed in the wreck has not been released.
