Police in Bethany say the social media site actually helped them track down some suspects they were looking for in a brutal robbery.

In this case, Facebook helped the victim and Bethany police track down his attackers, who not only beat him and robbed him, but ran over him during their getaway.

The attack happened on January 4 in the parking lot of The Belmont Apartments in the 1800 block of North Rockwell.

According to court documents, 28-year-old Jeffery Jones Junior was just trying to help when he was asked for directions. He was then robbed of his glasses, his medicine, and more than $900.

"During the struggle the suspects ended up dragging him down the street on the vehicle," said Deputy Chief John Reed with Bethany Police.

Jones was then run over in the parking lot, and had to go to the emergency room for his injuries. Once out, he started doing a Facebook search on the name "Jordan" he heard called out during the attack, and was able to find a picture of one of the people involved.

Police took it from there.

Jordan Nicole Ash was found and booked in for the robbery and assault. Her Facebook page then led Bethany police to her reported partners in crime.

Duke Tran, whose black glasses were found at the scene, was booked in first. Gage Browning. was booked in next.

Police are still looking for a fourth accomplice who is yet to be found.

Police say Facebook has helped them in other cases, too.

Once police found their suspects online, they were able to find the getaway car as well as crucial evidence linking them to the crime.

"With Facebook starting it, we ended up finding glasses, shoes and the victims jacket," said Reed. "Social media really helped us out in this case."

Bethany Police say these suspects were also wanted for a similar robbery in Oklahoma City.
