A legislator wants to cut the $4-million in annual funding to the State Arts Council, saying it's not a core function of government. I see his point, but I disagree because much of the money goes to art education and supporting artists and events which pump money back into the economy.

Split reaction from you, Ben writes: "Investment spending that results in a large return in time is wise."

But Nick says: "Kelly if that art deal is paying all them divideds (sic) It (darn) sure don't need 4 million from the tax payers!!"

Pamela agrees: "WE ARE OUT OF MONEY. If it isn't essential, it needs to be defunded."

KaTinka writes: "I rarely agree with you but you got it right on tonight's Your 2 Cents. Funding for The Arts is so important."

And Becky says: "Communities like the one I live in such as Alva would not be able to support our community theatre."

Jim writes: "Infrastructure isn't as sexy as art but we cannot drive vehicles on art. At least cut it until the economy improves."

CT didn't think much of My 2 Cents: "Your bit on the art council is pure garbage. If you want 'art' then pay for it out of your pocket."

Finally, this from Neal: "Bravo, Kelly. And may our grandchildren shout that in theaters, concert halls, and art galleries for all of their lives."

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
