3-Point Barrage From Bears Sinks OSU

Oklahoma State went on a sizable run to take a one-point lead heading into halftime in Waco on Monday.

But when the second half started it was the same song with a new verse for the Cowboys' road woes.

Similar to last season's debacle at Baylor, OSU was torched from the 3-point line and allowed numerous second-chance points in the second half en route to a 64-54 BU victory.

The loss dropped OSU to 1-21 on the road in the Big 12 over the past three seasons and 0-3 this year.

Le'Bryan Nash was an undeniable bright spot for the Pokes, scoring a game-high 24 points. Nash was outstanding in the first half, scoring 14 points and spearheading a 15-4 run by OSU to end the half with a 28-27 lead.

But that lead was short lived. Baylor opened the second half on an 18-7 spurt, aided by five 3-pointers, and maintained a comfortable lead the remainder of the game.

Outside of Nash's 10-for-19 shooting performance, it was an abysmal shooting outing for the Cowboys. OSU finished just 22-of-63 from the floor (34.9 percent) and 2-of-16 from 3 (12.5 percent). OSU couldn't get anything working from the foul line, converting just eight of 15 attempts.

Baylor shot 41.2 percent in a largely successful defensive effort by the Pokes but BU was able to bury eight 3-pointers and collected 22 fouls on the Cowboys.

Point guard Marcus Smart finished with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting with a team-high 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and a block.

Michael Cobbins was the only other Cowboys in double figures with 12 points and six rebounds.

Markel Brown had arguably his worst outing of the season with just two points on 1-for-10 shooting but managed to haul in eight boards in the loss.

Baylor (13-5, 4-1 Big 12) was led by Pierre Jackson, who scored 18 points and hit four 3's. The inside combo of Cory Jefferson and Isaiah Austin dominated OSU in the post, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively, but it was their combined 25 rebounds and 11 blocks that made the difference.

The loss dropped OSU to 12-5 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

OSU returns to the court on Saturday for the first of a two-game home stand against West Virginia at 12 p.m. before hosting Iowa State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
